- Mode of Action: Pretilachlor is a chloroacetamide herbicide that is absorbed by the shoots and roots of germinating weeds. It inhibits the formation of very long-chain fatty acids, disrupting cell division and preventing weed growth.
- Timing: It is a pre-emergence herbicide, meaning it must be applied before the weeds emerge. For best results, it is applied within 0-5 days after transplanting the rice seedlings.
- Application: It is applied to the standing water in the rice field, often sprayed uniformly, and water is maintained in the field for a few days after treatment.
- Broad-Spectrum Control: It controls a wide range of weeds, including barnyard grass, jungle rice, and sedges.
- Crop Safety: It is selective and safe for the rice crop, without causing stunting or yellowing.
- Long Duration Control: It provides extended protection against new weed growth.
- Integrated Weed Management: It can be incorporated into integrated weed management programs.
